La Liga - Week 10 review

Quite an interesting midweek of football to report on in La Liga

Barcelona dropped 2 points away to Valladolid in Thursday's big game. Ronaldinho equalising after Llorente gave the home side a shock lead after 15 mins. Barca never really got going in this game, but Valladolid will be delighted to have held both Real Madrid and Barca now at home to draws.

The score line is good news for Real Madrid and Villarreal who both took 3 points this gameweek and sit in first and third place respectively. Barca move into 2nd place on goal difference.

Real Madrid hammered Valencia 5-1 in the Mestalla. Robinho looking exceptional and grabbing the 5th after being instrumental in many Real attacks. Valencia manager in waiting Ronald Koeman will have had plenty to think about following this game.

Villarreal enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 home win over Levante, which seen the yellow submarine occupy 2nd place temporarily. Franco, Rossi and Cygan all getting the goals.

Thursday's other game saw Espanyol draw 0-0 with Real Murcia. Espanyol fans will be disappointed they did not see their team capatalise on Barca's slip up.

At the bottom end of the table, Getafe will be delighted with another 3 points against Athletic club Bilbao. This will ease the pressure on Michael Laudrup, who admitted he would have been sacked by now if he was in Italy. Winning away to Tottenham has certainly eased the pressure, as well as 2 La Liga wins in recent weeks. One has the feeling that the only was is up for Getafe.

Deportivo and Betis find themselves in a real mess near the foot of the table, although Depor managed a 1-1 draw at home to Mallorca, whilst Betis crashed 3-0 at home to Osasuna.
